Arrival At Camp
The speed limit on the camp road is 15 miles per hour. The road is narrow and must accommodate two-way traffic. Please park only in designated areas and unload your child’s gear from the parking area after checking in at the dining hall. All of our staff will be involved with registration so please understand that you will need to carry your child’s luggage to his/her cabin. Please note: Seminole Pratt Whitney Road is not owned by the camp. Consequently, we have no control over the condition of this road. We do call on a regular basis to request the grading of the road; however, weather conditions combined with the amount of traffic during this time period does cause the road to deteriorate quickly.

Checking In and Out
Your compliance with the following check in and out times is important and assures orderly registration and dismissal procedures.

Check-In Time              3:00 – 5:00 p.m.            Sunday

Check-Out Time           3:00 – 6:00 p.m.            Friday

If extenuating circumstances prevent you from complying with our established registration and/or dismissal times, you must make prior arrangements with Chris Hill, Summer Camp Director, at 561-624-6929. Campers cannot be left on the camp property unsupervised.

Check In
Upon arrival at camp, please bring your child, camper forms with original signatures, and any medications for your child and money (cash) for the store into the dining hall for registration. Be prepared to spend at least one hour for the check-in process. Registration includes: signing your child into camp, a health screening of the child, meeting your child’s instructors and establishing your child’s store account. The final step is taking your child to his/her cabin to meet their group leaders.

Check Out
Upon arrival at camp, please proceed directly to the dining hall. Please sign out your camper and collect a camper release ticket. You will then be permitted to go to the cabin to get your child and his/her luggage. Group leaders will be available to discuss your child’s week. The check-out process may take 30 to 45 minutes depending on your arrival time.

Camp Store
Campers are permitted to visit the camp store after lunch and dinner. Campers may purchase sodas and candy along with a number of camp items at this time. The store also has a supply of various toiletries.

  1. Please bring Cash Only. We cannot accept checks or credit cards. Any balance on the account is refunded at check-out or on the last day of the session.
  2. Children may not keep cash on them. All money must be turned into the camp store.

Cabin Life
Campers sleep in air-conditioned cabins that accommodate 14 - 16 campers. Two group leaders are assigned to each cabin. Bedding and towels are not provided. We recommend sheets with a blanket or a sleeping bag.

Personal hygiene is a priority at camp. Your child will be directed to take a shower each evening. Campers are required to bring water shoes to wear into the shower area. Showers are limited to 5 minutes due to the volume of campers and to conserve water.

Medical
During the registration process, your child will receive a general health screening to check for observable illness, injury or communicable disease, including head lice. The camp nurse will collect and review medications. Any medical condition that may affect the child while at camp must be explained to the medical staff to ensure proper care of your child. All parents will confirm the health of their child during registration.

Please notify your child’s group leaders and instructors about any special needs or concerns regarding his/her health, behavior or diet. Also, if your child is on medication for ADD/ADHD during the school year, it is required that they remain on their medication for the duration of camp.

The camp endeavors in every respect to provide a supervised and safe learning experience. However, it must be realized that a portion of the responsibility for this task also lies with you and your child. Minor injuries and ailments are treated by a resident camp nurse. Rapid availability of more sophisticated medical care is necessarily limited. For this reason, the camp strongly encourages parents to consider any special health problems or needs of their child in determining the appropriateness of enrollment in our camp program.

Should emergency hospitalization be required, admission is arranged at Palms West Hospital. Parents are notified as soon as possible. The camp believes that through the cooperative safety-cautious efforts of parents, campers and camp personnel, a child’s youth conservation camp residential summer experience will be a productive, enriching and SAFE one.

The camp provides secondary, minor health and accident insurance during summer camp. The parent or guardian’s policy is considered primary. Only if the camper is uninsured would the camp’s policy become primary.

Meals
Our philosophy is to provide nutritious foods that are both satisfying and in sufficient quantity to sustain campers for a strenuous day. The camp menu is written with the assistance of a certified professional food manager. Three meals are provided each day and served cafeteria style to campers in their cabin groups. All cabins have the same meal time. Snacks of fruit and granola bars are also available any time of day.  We are able to accommodate vegetarians and some dietary restrictions. If your child is on a strict diet, you may need to supplement items from home. If you have questions, please call the summer camp director, Chris Hill, prior to arrival.
