The Masters Degree Program in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Environmental Education provides a comprehensive graduate program that prepares future professionals in the field of environmental education, and enhances the environmental education knowledge and skills of practicing teachers. This university-wide, interdisciplinary curriculum includes 36 semester hours of credit. For additional information, please contact Dr. Carol Meltzer at

- Environmental Education Courses: 12 credits (Department of Teaching and Learning)
Take each of the following courses:
- SCE 6345 Perspectives of Environmental Education (prerequisite to all SCE courses)
- SCE 6644 Trends and Issues in Environmental Education (prerequisite course: SCE 6345)
- SCE 6344 Advanced Methods of Environmental Education (prerequisite course: SCE 6345)
- SCE 6196 Design, Implementation and Evaluation of Environmental Education Programs
(prerequisites: SCE 6345, SCE 6644, SCE 6344, STA 6113, EDF 6481, EDG 6285)
- Research Courses: 6 credits (Department of Educational Technology and Research)
Take both of the following courses:
- STA 6113 Educational Statistics (pre- or co-requisite with EDF 6481)
- EDF 6481 Educational Research (may be completed as co-requisite with STA 6113)

Program Evaluation: 3 credits (Department of Curriculum, Culture, and Educational Inquiry)
Take the following required course:
- EDG 6285 Program Evaluation in Curriculum (prerequisites: STA 6113, EDF 6481)

International Course: 3 credits (Department of Curriculum, Culture and Educational Inquiry)
Take one of the following courses:
- EDG 6625 Global Perspectives of Curricular Trends Across Nations or
- EDF 6800 Foundations of Global Education

The following additional documentation is required:
- Official transcripts including all undergraduate course work
- A bachelors degree from a regionally accredited college or university
- GRE scores less than 5 years old according to the following GPA requirements in the last 60 hours before awarding of bachelors degree:
- If GPA = 3.00 or higher, then GRE = 800 or higher (verbal + quantitative)
- If GPA = 2.50 - 2.99, then GRE = 1000 or higher (verbal + quantitative)
- Admission to the Department of Teaching and Learning
- Proof of FDLE Security Clearance (copy of security badge) to work with students
